How to Remove Cat Urine Stains From Carpet

Anyone who owns a cat knows how displeasing it can be when the cat leaves its’ mark on the carpet. The strong smell tends to spread in the whole house, and may even create fumes similar to ammonia if not treated properly. Cat urine stains should not be treated like any other pet urine stains. Compared to dogs, cats have a richer protein diet. This means that their urine produces a larger stain and worse odor than dogs. Thus, you must treat cat urine stains differently than dog urine stains. If you just saw your cat pee on the carpet, here are a few ways that help you get rid of the strong, distinct smell of cat urine, and the displeasing sight of the urine stains on the carpet.

·      Firstly, take paper towels and start blotting the stain area to absorb the cat wet cat urine. Keep doing this until the area completely dries, and the towel absorbs no more. Do not rub against the carpet. Rubbing may cause the urine to seep deeper in the carpet.

·      Now, using a clean cloth dipped in plain water, rinse the affected area. Blot the stain with a dry cloth till no more can be absorbed.

You are now ready to proceed with one of the cleaning solutions outlined below to get rid of the cat urine stains on your carpet.
