How to Remove Mold Stains From Walls

If you have a house in a country which has lot of humidity especially in southern regions then the chances are that mold stains may develop because of humidity. Such mold stains create a mess on your walls making it look messy. Often bacteria develop with these mold stains. These mold stains from walls can be removed with the help of various methods that you can adopt. One of the methods is mentioned below.

Things you will be required:

·      Bleach.
·      Two to three bowls of water.
·      An empty spraying bottle.
·      Gloves.
·      Sponge.
·      Zinsser 123
·      Paint.

Steps:

1.   An expert on stain removing recommend that one should put three or four parts of water depending on the stain with one part of bleach and put this into a spraying bottle. Mix the solution very well so lumps are not created.

2.   Then you should open the windows for ventilation and spray the bleach water mixture onto the walls that has mold stains on it. Do this for two to three days in a row ,this is to open the pores.

3.   Then, on the third day, take the same bleach water solution that you made in the beginning, but this time use gloves and apply it with a sponge straight to the wall.

4.   Wait two weeks and do it all over again (the spraying and sponging of bleach/water). This is because there most likely are brand-new mold spores that have formed in the past 2 weeks that you can't see that have sprung up since you last bleached.

5.   After a few days of the walls drying the second time when you did the whole process again you should then apply a good mold inhibit primer like ZINSSER 123 or any other brand depending on the availability of it.

6.   Then put on at least two or more coats of paint with high quality paint so that your walls can look new again.

Tips and Warnings:

1.   You should give daily ventilation to your walls so that moisture is not trapped in which can lead to mold stains.

2.   Treat mold stains as soon as possible as they are not good for your health even.

3.   You should apply at least two to three coats of Zinsser 123.
