How to Remove Ink Stains From Furniture



Your furniture at office has been spoiled by ink stains and you are thinking as to what to do. Well there are two things that you can do. One is that to dispose the existing furniture and buy new one. The other thing you can do is to remove the ink stains from the furniture, save cost and make it look new again which may impress your boss as well as other people working with you.

Cleaning the stain will be the best choice you can make, will just require little effort which this article will help you to make focusing on two types of furniture that is wood furniture and leather furniture. The key to removing any stain is to treat as soon as possible, the more time you take, things will become harder for you and the stain often sets in when given more. You can adopt any one of the following methods for the stain removal.

Method 1 (Ink Stains on Wood Furniture)

Things you will be required:

·      Cream wax or damp cloth either of one will work.
·      Oxalic acid solution.
·      Rotten stone.
·      Medicine dropper or glass rod.
·       Luke warm water or room temperature water.

Steps:

1.   Blot the stain as soon as possible before the ink penetrates in the wood.

2.   After that, clean the outer or the surface of the wood with cream wax or damp cloth. If you are using damp cloth then you must keep turning when blotting or cleaning.

3.   If the stain is still evident, then in that case you should use rotten stone.

4.   After the stain has been lightened, using a glass rod or medicine dropper apply Oxalic acid solution on the stain area for at least twenty minutes. After that the stain will be removed completely. To make the solution mix two tablespoons of Oxalic Acid with one pint of water.


Method 2 (Ink Stains on Leather Furniture)

Things you will be required:

·      Soft dry cloth or cotton ball.
·      Small pieces of cloth.
·      Saddle soap or leather cleaner.
·      Luke warm water.
·      Shampoo.

Steps:

1.   When you see the stain treats it as soon as possible. First, blot the stain with the help of cotton balls or soft dry cloth. Before you do anything else blotting is the key to moving further with removing these stains. If blotting done effectively, not much effort will be required in other following steps, though they are also integral.

2.   Moisten another piece of small cloth and clean gently the stain area in circular movements.

3.   Try using leather cleaner or best if you have a saddle soap. If you do not have that you may remove the stain using a shampoo and Luke warm water.

4.   You will notice that the stain has been removed, if not you have to do little bit of more blotting and use a bit of shampoo and Luke warm water if you have not used it before.

Tips and Warnings:

1.   Do not rub the clean cloth or cream wax as it may spread the stain further.

2.   Often people clean ink stains with milk, you may try one hidden area with milk, and you may also research on removing stains from milk further.

3.   Even tomatoes are good at removing stains but one has to be careful as it has some amount of acid in it.

4.   Detergents often harm leather, so when you are buying make sure it is recommended for leather or for the type of furniture you want it for.

5.   Wear gloves when treating stains and make sure to shift other stainless furniture away as stains can spread with even little negligence. So one has to be very attentive when treating stains.
