How to remove Hair Dye Stains from a carpet



Accidents happen but the worst part is spilling hair dye on a carpet which can lead to serious and permanent stains. Hair dye stains on carpet seem very hard to clean from because once it sets, it becomes stubborn and it looks very unappealing. Due to the chemicals in the hair dye the methods of cleaning them may be time consuming but the results are worth, the time spent. You can adopt anyone of the following methods to remove hair dye stains on your carpet.

Method 1

Things that you will require:

·      8 glasses of warm water
·      A bowl of cold water
·      2 empty bowls
·      White vinegar
·      Dish washing liquid
·      A cleaning towels
·      Sponge
·      Liquid Detergent
·      Rubbing Alcohol
·      Gloves
·      Ammonia
·      Hydro-peroxide
·      Eye dropper

Steps that you will need to take:


1.   Start by mixing 1 tbsp. of dish washing liquid with two glasses of water.

2.   Sponge the solution onto the hair dye stain and dab it with a dry cleaning towel. It is possible that a fresh mark may fade away at this point but if the stain has set in, the following steps should be followed.

3.   Dip another sponge into cold water and dab the surface of the stain.

4.   Pour some rubbing alcohol onto the hair dye stain and dab it. This will lighten the stain further. Dab the stain with dry cleaning towel so it absorbs the alcohol to some level.

5.   Next add one tsp. of cleaning detergent to one tbsp. of ammonia in an empty bowl. Add two cups of water in it.

6.   Put on the gloves and dip the sponge in the solution. Apply it on the stain; leave it for 35 minutes and dabbing it after every 5 minutes with sponge and more solution.

7.   Repeat this process till the hair dye stains on Carpet are completely gone.

8.   If for some reason there is still a very light hint of the stain left follow the next step.

9.   Fill up the dropper with hydro peroxide and drop a few drops on the stain and leave it there a whole day.

10.   Hopefully the hair dye stains from carpet will be removed.


Warning                

It is important that the steps with ammonia and hydro peroxide are tried first on a place of the carpet which isn’t visually accessible.

Method 2

Things that you will require:

·      An empty bowl
·      Dish washing liquid
·      White vinegar
·      Sponge
·      Cleaning towel
·      Warm water

Steps that you will need to take:

1.   Add one tablespoon of the dish washing liquid into the empty bowl.

2.   Add one tablespoon of white vinegar and 2 glasses of warm water in the same bowl.

3.   Dip the sponge into the solution and let the carpet absorb the liquid.

4.   Leave on for five minutes, and clean with a dry cleaning towel.

5.   Repeat every five minutes till the hair dye stains are gone or at least dims.

Method 3

Things that you will require:

·         Soda water
·         Empty spray bottle
·         Borax
·         Cleaning towel

Steps that you will need to take:

1.   Pour soda water into a spray bottle and spray the stained carpet

2.   Once the stain is moist, scatter borax onto the stained area and leave until the moisture has left borax.

3.   Once it is dry, remove the borax by cleaning with a cleaning towel. Your carpet will be free of hair dye stains.
