How to Remove Urine Stains from Mattress



Often kids have to problem of bed wetting and this problem may persist in older people as well as the habit develops. This is a challenging task of removing these stains but even more challenging is the fact that when you do not know how to remove these stains and as a result you have to buy new mattress each time. So the best option you have is to remove the stains with such methods that require materials that are available at home or are easily available at common super stores. Or it may also be the case that your pet is on training and is messing up the mattress the initial days of training.

The key to removing urine stain is to remove it as soon as possible so that the stain does not set in and no smell comes from it. You can adopt any one of the following methods to remove Urine Stains from Mattress.

Method 1

Things you will be required:

·      Measuring cup.
·      One empty spraying bottle.
·      Ten Oz of hydrogen peroxide.
·      Dish soap.
·      Two to three table spoon of baking soda

Steps:

1.   The first step involves measuring your eight oz. of hydrogen peroxide in the measuring cup.

2.   Then add three table spoons of baking soda into the hydrogen peroxide and mix it until it gets dissolved.

3.   After that, add one drop of dish washing soap into spraying bottle and then add the mixture that you made in step two into the same spraying bottle. Mix and shake it and spray it on the entire stain area.

4.    Place the mattress in an area where it can get dry, leave it there for two to three hours and you will notice that the stains will be gone completely.


Method 2

Things you will be required:

·      Laundry detergent.
·      Vinegar.
·      Baking soda.
·      Vacuum cleaner.
·      Container with a lid.
·      Sponge.
·      Piece of cloth.

Steps:

1.   To make your entire cleaning process easy and as much comfortable as possible what you need to blot as much urine as you can so that further cleaning can be aided.

2.   Then you have to work on making a solution. For that you have to mix laundry detergent and warm water together. After combining, making sure you have closed the lid, you may shake the container so it can be mixed well.

3.   Remove the lid from the container and skim the first layer of the soap away. Then rub the soapy solution that you made on the stain area that is that area of the mattress that has urine stain on it. You may use sponge to scrub the stain. Keep scrubbing until the stain has been removed then allow the mattress to dry.

4.   However, if you solution is ineffective in removing the stain then you have to use baking soda as well as vinegar. With the help of a piece of cloth you may rub vinegar on the stain area. Method 3

Things you will be required:

·      Enzyme cleaners.
·      Sponge.

Steps:

1.   Enzyme cleaners are very effective in removing stains, more effective than the soapy solution that we often make. However, you may have to spend some amount of money in it.

2.   The instruction will be written on the product and all you have to do is to follow it, that is pour it on the stain area and scrub it with the help of sponge and the stain will be removed in no time.

Method 4

Things you will be required:

·      One empty spraying bottle.
·      Three table spoons of baking soda.
·      Eight ounces of hydrogen peroxide.
·      Shampoo.
·      Sponge.

Steps:

1.   Mix three table spoons of baking soda not more not less, eight ounces of hydrogen peroxide and four drops of shampoo. Stir the solution until the baking soda has been mixed fairly well.

2.   Pour the solution that you made into an empty spraying bottle.

3.   Spray the solution on to the stain area.

4.   Scrub the stain area with sponge.

5.   Wipe it off with clean side of the sponge.

6.   The stain will be gone.

Method 5

Things you will be required:

·      Dry absorbent towels.
·      White vinegar.
·      Warm water.
·      Detergent.
·      Spraying bottle.
·      Piece of cloth.
·      Carpet upholstery cleaner.

Steps:

1.   The first step involves blotting the urine with dry absorbent towels, making sure you press the towels really hard to blot as much urine as possible.

2.   After that, mix some warm water and white vinegar and add the solution in a spraying bottle. Spray the solution on the stain area and keep it applied on for an hour.

3.   Using a clean wet piece of cloth wipe the stain area making sure you wipe it gently and not harshly.

4.   After that using carpet upholstery cleaner you may clean the mattress for a final cleaning process after which you will be rid of any stains.



Tips and Warnings:

1.   Do not add water in the mixture in method one as it may make the solution totally ineffective. If you are short of mixture you can make it more rather than adding more water if you want to get rid of the stains quickly.

2.   Do not apply vinegar and baking soda on wet mattress use it only when the mattress has been completely dried up.

3.   After cleaning the mattress make sure that you use water proof covers so next time it is easy to get rid of the stain.

4.   Do not allow your pets as well as children to go on mattress until they are wearing something that will protect the urine from messing the mattress.

5.   The key to making stain removing solution is to mix baking soda really well, if you do not mix it well then the stain will not be removed effectively.

6.   It is very important to wear gloves when blotting, applying solution and when wiping it with clean piece of cloth.

7.   If you do not like to do any hassle or effort you may also give your bed to professional cleaners.
