How to Remove Ink Stains from Leather Purse

It often happens that you buy an expensive Chanel leather purse, carry it around when going for lunches, meetings or dinners, and when you open it to take something out you notice ink stains on the leather, resulting in panic and frustration on your part. This has happened probably because a pen has accidentally leaked inside your purse. Do not fret; if you think disposing off your leather bag is the answer, you are wrong. Your purse can be reduced to its original condition by simple methods outlined below. Keep your cool and follow them!

Always remember to test the cleanser on a small, hidden area of the bag to check for any damage that the cleanser might cause to the bag. Apply the cleanser on a small area, leave it on for 2 minutes, and remove it then. If the leather discolors, do not proceed with the same cleanser. Read the label of the purse as well to check for any specific ingredient that should be used or avoided while removing the ink stains from the leather purse. Empty your purse completely before cleaning it.

Method One (Using Rubbing Alcohol)

Things that you will require:

·      Leather cleaner
·      Cotton swabs or clean rags
·      Rubbing alcohol
·      Leather conditioner

Steps that you will need to take:

1.   The first step towards removing the ink stains from the leather purse involves using leather cleaner on the stained purse. Follow the instructions provided on the leather cleaner. If it is a spray, it will require you to spray the stain with it. Otherwise, it may require you to put some on a cloth, and blot the stained area with it.

2.   Once you are done cleaning the stain with the leather cleaner, let the stain dry. Put it in front of a fan if you are in hurry.

3.   Now, grab some cotton swabs or soft, clean rags, and an ounce of rubbing alcohol on to it.

4.   Start dabbing the stained area with it. Move from one small patch to another. Move from the edges of the stain towards the center. The ink will start transferring on to the cotton swab or rag.

5.   Repeat the above process till the entire ink stain has been removed.

6.   Lastly, apply leather conditioner to your Leather Purse. This will return the moisture to the leather. Follow the instructions on the leather conditioner to do so.

Method Two (Using Hairspray)

Things that you will require:

·      Cotton swabs or a soft, clean cloth
·      Hairspray
·      Leather conditioner

Steps that you will need to take:

1.   To start off with the cleaning process, grab some cotton swabs or a soft, clean cloth, and spray your regular hairspray on it.

2.   Now, start dabbing the ink stain with the cloth or cotton. Do so in a circular motion, working from the outside edges towards the center. Do not rub the stain as that may damage the leather.

3.   Repeat the above steps till all the ink has been removed from the leather purse. Larger stains will require more applications.

4.   Let the Leather Purse dry completely.

5.   Lastly, apply leather conditioner to the purse so that it remains smooth.
