How to remove Chocolate Stains from Couch

There are very few people in this world who don’t like chocolate. The appeal of chocolate comes from the fact that it is available in a large variety of combinations i.e. nuts in chocolate, flavored chocolate etc. which is why it suits everyone. The famous chocolate holiday is Easter, when kids are most excited about the Easter eggs. These eggs are made entirely of chocolate and kids love them. But since kids can be very clumsy and forgetful, there is an instance which can cause a lot of hassle for you.

This instance is when one of the eggs is forgotten on the couch and someone sits on it. The melted chocolate in the eggs might spill out leaving a big stain on the couch for you to clean. Although it isn’t hard to clean chocolate stains, it is still work. We have come up with the following solution which will be very helpful for you to clean chocolate stains from your couch.

Method 1 (Using Dishwashing Liquid)

Things that you will require:

·            Butter knife
·            Cold water
·            Liquid dishwasher
·            Empty bowl
·            Cleaning towel

Steps that you will need to take:

1.   Start by scrapping the chocolate off the couch fabric. This will leave behind the stains.

2.   Now take the empty bowl and fill it with cold water, which is enough to remove the stains on the couch. Add one tbsp. of the liquid dishwasher to it and stir till it is mixed with water.

3.   Apply the mixture to the stains with the help of a dry cleaning towel. Make sure you blot rather than rubbing the stains. The motion should be inward, toward the middle of the stain. Keep blotting till the stain is completely removed.

4.   Take another cleaning towel and dip it in plain water, then apply to the soapy area where the stains were. This will clean up the soapy mixture applied previously. Repeatedly dip the cleaning towel in clear water so that whatever soap it absorbs can be removed.

5.   Let the couch air dry. By this point the chocolate stain removal will be successful.

Method 2 (Using Carpet Shampoo)

Things that you will require:

·       Butter knife
·       Cleaning towel
·       Carpet shampoo
·       Water
·       Sponge
·       Tooth brush
·       Wet vacuum

Steps that you will need to take:

1.   Scrape the chocolate off the couch with the help of the butter knife.

2.   Take a tooth brush and run it under tap water so its bristles are moistened. Now apply the carpet shampoo on the tooth brush like tooth paste.

3.   Moisten the stains with a few drops of water. Now apply the tooth brush with the carpet shampoo on it. Gently rub the stains with the tooth brush.

4.   Remove the lather produced by the rubbing with a cleaning towel. Sprinkle a few drops of water on the stained area so that the shampoo doesn’t dry up.

5.   By this point the stain would be completely removed. Dip a sponge in plain water and apply to the soapy area. Make sure all of the soap is cleared from the surface of the couch fabric.

6.   Let the couch air dry.
