Method 1

The glycerin solution is strictly for white clothes. If the mustard has left stains on white clothes, then you should thank your lucky stars because the chlorine bleach will work its magic making the mustard stain removal successful. Follow the instructions carefully and make sure that the clothes are the type which can withstand the bleach treatment.

Things that you will require:

·      Butter knife
·      Glycerin
·      Cold & hot water
·      Washing machine
·      Chlorine bleach
·      Detergent

Steps that you will need to take:


1.   Remove the access mustard from the clothes. Make sure your scrape towards the center of the fresher stains to avoid spreading the mustard to cleaner area.

2.   Now with the help of your finger apply the glycerin onto the stain. Massage it into the fabric. Do this for about five minutes.

3.   Rinse the glycerin off with cold tap water.

4.   After rising, put the clothes in the washing machine and fill it with hot water. Pour the chlorine based bleach into it and let the machine run for a complete cycle.

5.   Rinse the clothes with water making sure that all the bleach has left the fabric. To be safe use detergent after rinsing.

Method 2

The dishwashing liquid solution is for both colored and white clothes, but it works best on colored clothes. The stains must be taken care of immediately after the spill or there is a slight chance that they might now come out. In case the stains are old, spill a small amount of the same mustard that left the stains, onto the old stains and run the stains under water. This might help in taking out the older stains.


Things that you will require:

·      Butter knife
·      Dishwashing detergent
·      Cold water
·      Empty bowl
·      Tooth brush

Steps that you will need to take:


1.   Scrape off the mustard stains with a butter knife. Make sure that the freshly spilled mustard is scrapped off with a stroke leading towards the center of the stains so that the mustard doesn’t get to the unspoiled area.

2.   Run the back side of the stains under cold tap water to remove any more excess mustard.

3.   Now take the empty bowl and mix a tbsp. of dishwashing liquid with enough water to cover all the stains. Stir with the tooth brush so they mix properly.

4.   Spread the stains and pour the mixture on them. Make sure that you cover all stains. Work the soap into the clothes with the tooth brush.

5.   Rinse to check the stain and repeat step four till the stain is completely removed.

Tips:

·      Immediate action against the stains is key.

·      Never put the clothes that have been treated for mustard stains in a dryer after the laundry because there is a chance that if there is a leftover stain, it will never come out.


How to remove Marker Stains from clothes




Color is a very significant part of life. Color brings joy to life and a significant part of growing up is a child’s fascination with colors. The use of markers isn’t just limited to children’s coloring. People use markers for a number of things life making visual aids or highlighting certain texts with different colors etc.


Markers may be used to color a number of different pictures, but sometimes you may have an accident with one of them i.e. it might land on your clothes or you might leave it in one of your pockets and it might leave a giant ugly looking stain on your clothes. In that scenario, all the joy of color is sucked out of life, leaving you in panic.

In such a situation you must remain calm and rather than panicking you must take immediate action because sometimes the marker may look good and smell amazing but it will leave a stain which isn’t easy to clean or beautiful to look at.

Method 1

The citrus solution method is safe for both colored and white clothes because while the citrus juice has a bleaching effect on clothes, it will not cause any harm to the clothes and will take the marker stains out in no time, leaving no trace of marker stains whatsoever.

·      Lemon/lime
·      Knife
·      Cleaning towel
·      Liquid detergent
·      Water

Steps that you will need to take:

1.   Spread the stained clothes onto a flat surface.

2.   Cut the lemon or lime with the knife and now squeeze it over the marker stains. Either use a cleaning towel, or the lime itself onto the marker stains. The stain will start to vanish.

3.   Now pour a couple of drops of the liquid detergent onto the stained area and with the cleaning towel dab it on the stains.

4.   Do laundry as usual. This will result in a complete marker stain removal.

Method 2

The borax method is safe for bother colored and white clothes. Milk keeps the bleaching effects from causing harm to the fabric and the borax and the other ingredients will take the market stains out successfully.

Things that you will require:

·      Borax
·      Milk
·      Vinegar
·      Lemon
·      Empty bowl
·      Cotton ball

Steps that you will need to take:

1.   Take the empty bowl and mix equal quantities of milk, white vinegar. Stir and mix equal quantities of borax and lemon juice. The key here is the ratio between the two pairs i.e. if you mix a tbsp. of milk and white vinegar then you should add a tsp. of borax and lemon. Mix according to the stains.

2.   Now dip the cotton ball in the solution and dab it onto the stained area. Remember to only dab rather than rubbing. Leave the solution on the stained clothes for about ten minutes.

3.   Now rinse to check if the stains have left the fabric. In case the stains have lightened but haven’t been completely removed, repeat step 2.

4.   Do laundry of the clothes as usual.

Method 3

This is a tried and tested method by a number of people who give a positive response for this method. Follow the simple steps and say goodbye to the marker stains.

Things that you will require:

·      Hot and cold water
·      Cleaning towel
·      Rubbing alcohol
·      Color-safe bleach
·      Shallow bowl

Steps that you will need to take:

1.   Run the back side of the stained clothes under cold tap water. This will take out the access color of the marker.

2.   Now fold the cleaning towel twice to make a thick padding and put it under the stain.

3.   Pour the rubbing alcohol onto the stain. The rubbing alcohol will take the color of the market out of the fabric and let the cleaning towel underneath absorb it.

4.   Take the shallow bowl and fill a quarter of it with hot water and pour the color-safe bleach in it.

5.   Dip the clothes in the bleach solution for about 15 minutes and then take the clothes out to check for the stains. By this point the stain removal will be successful.
