How to remove Coke/Pepsi Stains from carpet

Coke/Pepsi is the most common beverage often consumed with food. Most people are so addicted to Coke/Pepsi that they have to have it with every meal. Guys tend to get so immersed in watching T.V. that they forget that they have Coke/Pepsi in their hand. A touch down or a goal may lead them to jump with joy, often spilling the beverage on the carpet.

Coke/Pepsi is primarily made of sugar therefore when the spill dried up; the stains left over on the carpet mostly contain sugar. Sugar attracts not only bugs that like to consume it but also captures dirt so if you constantly step on the stains, it might leave ugly looking dirt stains where the beverage stains used to be. You need to clean up the beverage stains immediately if you want to avoid nasty stains and bugs crawling around in your carpet. The following methods have proved to be very successful in the removal of Coke/Pepsi stains from carpets. The methods are easy to follow and ingredients very accessible.

Method 1 (Vinegar & Dishwashing Liquid)

Things that you will require:

·      Cleaning towels

·      Spray bottle

·      Dishwashing liquid

·      Empty bowl

·      Sponge

·      Warm water

·      Vinegar

Steps that you will need to take:

1.   Start by cleaning the stained area with a cleaning towel, in the hopes of absorbing as much Coke /Pepsi from the surface as possible.

2.   Take the empty bowl and add one tablespoon of dish washing liquid. Add about two cups of warm water to it and stir the bowl so that both mix. Now add one tablespoon of vinegar. Stir again. Now add this mixture to the spray bottle.

3.   Spray the stained area with this mixture. Leave it for 2 minutes.

4.   Take the empty bowl and rinse with water. Now fill it with enough warm water so that you are able to dip the sponge in it.

5.   Dip the sponge in water and apply to the stained area. Work up lather with the sponge and then dip it in water and remove the mixture. Spray and remove a few times.

6.   Now take clean water and remove all the vinegar solution from the carpet with the help of the sponge.

7.   Take a dry cleaning towel and press it on the carpet surface to absorb the extra moisture from it.

8.   Let the carpet air dry. This will successfully remove the Coke/Pepsi stains from the carpet leaving it as good as new.

Method 2 (Wet Vacuum Cleaner & Liquid Dishwasher)

Things that you will require:

·      Cleaning towels

·      Wet vacuum cleaner

·      Butter knife

·      Liquid dishwasher

·      Spray bottle

·      Cold water

·      Heavy weight

Steps that you will need to take:

1.   Clean the spill on the carpet with a cleaning towel. In case the Coke/Pepsi has dried, scrape off the surface of the carpet with the butter knife.

2.   Now add a tablespoon of dishwasher to the spray bottle and add a cup of water to it. Shake well and spray it on the stained carpet.

3.   With the cleaning towel lather up the surface by rubbing it. Take the direction of the weave of the carpet.

4.   Now run a cleaning towel under water till it is wet and clean off the dishwashing liquid solution from the carpet. Rinse the towel repeatedly. Do this a couple of times.

5.   With the wet vacuum cleaning, vacuum off all the left over water and the dish washing liquid solution.

6.   Repeat step 4. Use a lot of water to flush out the left over stain. And vacuum up the carpet. This will clean the stains and leave your carpet soft.

7.   Spread a dry cleaning towel on the surface of the carpet and leave a heavy weight on it so that the left over moisture is soaked up by the towel. Leave for 4 to 5 hours.

8.   Remove the weight and let the carpet air dry.
