People use henna for a number of
reasons. Some people use it as a hair dye because of its natural properties of
leaving a dark shade of brown and also because they believe that it doesn’t
have chemicals in it. Other people use it to make tattoos on their bodies. In India
and sub-continent the use of henna is quite common especially on weddings and
near eids.
People only want to purchase henna that
leaves a dark color, and to make the color dark the makers use a number of
chemicals in it. The most problematic effects of henna is when it gets on the
clothes and leave nasty looking stains. Some people leave their tattoos on
overnight which is the main cause of henna stains on clothes. Henna stains are
extremely hard to clean once they have set it. The stain removal must be
immediate or else the stains might never come out.
Method 1 (Using Baking soda and Vinegar)
This method is extremely simple but
gives amazing results. It is important that the stain is treated with this
method immediately after it has appeared on clothes. The items are readily
available making it easier for the user to remove the stains.
Things that you will require:
·
Baking
soda
·
Water
·
Vinegar
·
Empty
bowl
Steps that you will need to take:
1.
Take
the empty bowl and mix half tsp. of baking soda and a few drops of water so
that both make a thick paste.
2.
Apply
to the henna stains on the clothes and leave till the paste dries up and see if
the stain removal was successful and if not follow the next step.
3.
Mix
baking soda with vinegar and apply to the stain.
4.
Let
the mixture stay on till it is dry. Then scrape off the mixture and rinse with
water. This will sure get the henna stains out from clothes.
Method 2 (Using Milk Solution)
This method is quite simple as well
and requires very little time. It should be understood that this method must be
used as a pre-wash treatment so that after the use of this method any leftover
signs of the stains can be removed with the final wash in the laundry.
Things that you will require:
·
Cleaning
towels
·
Laundry
detergent
·
Hot
milk
·
Tooth
brush
·
Bowl
Steps that you will need to take:
1.
Use
the cleaning towel to dap the surface of the henna stain so that it can absorb
the moisture of the stain. Make sure that you dab and not rub because rubbing
will cause the stain to spread.
2.
Rinse
with cold water and check if the stains have been removed.
3.
If
the stains have lightened but are still there, take an empty bowl and pour the
hot milk in it. It should be noted that the milk isn’t too hot. It should be
hot enough that you can easily put your finger in it.
4.
Soak
the stained are in the hot milk and leave for thirty minutes.
5.
After
soaking the henna stains in milk, pour some detergent on the stain and scrub
with the tooth brush. This will completely remove the stains from the clothes.
Warning:
·
Always
use cold water when washing out henna stains because use of warm water only
deepens the stains rather than washing them out.
