Things that you will require:

·      Clean cloth/absorbent towel
·      Spoon/ butter knife
·      Cold running water
·      Detergent/stain remover
·      Chlorine bleach
·      Hot water

Steps that you need to take:

1.  First of all, you need to blot the stain as soon as possible. It is highly recommended that you treat the strain while it’s fresh. Use a clean absorbent towel to blot the stain. Make sure that you blot it in such a manner that it doesn’t spread any further. In case of dried mustard stains, take a dull knife or a spoon and use it to scrape off the excess mustard from the stain.

2.  Afterwards, place the back of this stained fabric underneath cold running water. This running water would flush away the majority of the mustard stain.

3.  Take some detergent, either liquid laundry detergent or a dish soap bar. Instead of a detergent you can also take hold of any stain remover. Apply this detergent/ stain remover onto the mustard stain and rub slightly with your fingers. This would agitate the soap and propel it to carry out its cleansing action.

4.  Rinse the mustard stained area with clean water.

5.  If the stain is stubborn and still persists then use a chlorine bleach to treat this stain.

6.  Eventually wash your stained white cloth with hot water and allow it to air dry.

7.    Only opt for artificial drying if you are sure that the stain has gone satisfactorily.

Tips and Warnings

1.  Never use ammonia or any product containing ammonia while treating mustard stains. This is because ammonia reacts with turmeric and sets the stain further instead of its removal.

2.  Rubbing Alcohol and White Vinegar can also aid you in getting rid of mustard stains from white clothes.
